Top universities reject Gordon Brown's extra places plan
Most leading universities, including Cambridge, Oxford and UCL, have rejected Gordon Brown's plans for 10,000 extra university places to cope with unprecedented demand from school-leavers.
However, it emerged that there would be no funding for the places from the Government.
